The exhibition on microelectronics "La revolució silenciosa" arrives at FAB Casa del Mig until June 28

“La revolució silenciosa”, the itinerant exhibition of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC), moves to the FAB Casa del Mig – Punt Multimedia, located in the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial of the Barcelona neighborhood of Sants. From May 26 to June 28, it will be possible to enjoy a didactic exhibit about microelectronics and learn about the transistor, the small protagonist that has led to the current digital revolution.

Exposició La revolució silenciosa al FAB Casa del Mig

La revolució silenciosa, an exhibition promoted by the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona in collaboration with the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología · Ministerio de Ciencia e innovación (FECYT), opens the doors at FAB Casa del Mig Punt Multimedia, the public equipment of the Barcelona City Council, until June 28.

The informative exhibition is an introduction to the world of microelectronics and the changes that occurred after 1947 with the invention of the transistor, and a summary of the research and development carried out at the IMB-CNM. It gives an answer to questions relating to the technology used in everyday life and to the process of creating its components.

On Wednesday June 7 at 7:00 p.m., the FAB Casa del Mig will hold the inaugural talk "De la ràdio del iaio a la Playstation 5: el transistor fa 75 anys" by Elisabet Prats, a CIBER-BBN at IMB-CNM. The conference travels through the history of technology while learning how it works and how it has made a social impact.

An itinerant exhibition with stops in Barcelona and Vallès

This is the fourth time the exhibition has opened in different Barcelona spaces, which will continue elsewhere in the city and other Vallès places after the summer.

The exhibition has been promoted by the IMB-CNM as an activity of the outreach project with FECYT funding "Un microxip molt gran". The initiative consists mainly of a microelectronics contest for students of compulsory education, upper secondary school and cycles, which closes the reception of proposals on June 30th.
